Welcome to my page - it’s lovely to meet you! My name is Emma (she/they) and would like to introduce myself to you below.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Counselling in July 2022 and currently studying a Masters of Sexology. My passions are within the fields of sexuality, gender, neurodiversity, education, trauma, sex worker inclusivity, and all relationship styles including non-monogamy, polyamory, platonic, and kink dynamics. As an aspiring sex therapist, I am not only sex-positive, I actively engage in training opportunities and professional development in this area regularly. In 2022 I attended the ADHD conference in Queensland, training in working with sex workers therapeutically, and international panels about reclaiming women’s bodies.
Professionally I have experience in helpline services specifically for the LGBTIQA+ community and face-to-face counselling in alcohol and other drug support. I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) - level 2. The modalities that I lean toward are within a pluralistic framework and include feminist underpinnings, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma-informed practice, and strengths-based approaches.
On a personal note, I am a queer, white, able-bodied cis-woman who practices polyamory. I am also the mother to an amazing neurodivergent child. I am aware of my privileges in life as well as the many intersections of my diverse identities and life experiences.
I have just set up an in-person office located in West End (4101) and welcome bookings both online or in-person. This office does require access via 1 flight of stairs as unfortunately the disabled access needs repair. My aim is to be as inclusive and culturally aware as possible, so if you have feedback for me I would be grateful to hear it.
